Welcome to Downeast Barn
Two Centuries ago Classic New England Barns represented the needs and
prosperity of the time. In that period the home started as a modest shed
and the barn was the first large structure built on the property. The
barn helped the family grow and prosper till they could afford to build
a home that fully fit their needs.
At that time although a man might be a doctor , a printer or lawyer by
profession he was also of necessity a farmer.
Now Two Centuries later Traditional Barns define the architecture of
Classic New England Style.
At Downeast Barn we hand craft Timber Frame Barns in the finest New
England Tradition. We are located in Central Maine, minutes off
Interstate 95.
Tim Bernard founder of the company is dedicated to exacting quality, and
takes particular pride in attention to detail. Every Timber
Frame makes
use of traditional joinery and fine craftsmanship
and is individually
cut in pine, oak, douglas-fir or recycled timber. After completion of
the hand chiseled joinery in our shop, the frame is assembled and raised
at your site by our team, and fastened with oak pegs. A dedication to
the customer with a pine bow to the peak is usually followed by a grand
celebration and barn dance!
We welcome you to explore our site, look over our
classic barn designs ,
view photos of current projects and take a
virtual walk through one of
our frames.
Because most of our work is custom to fit our customers needs, please
feel free to call us if you would like to modify one our designs or if
you would like to create a design from scratch.
Through our commitment, experience, and expertise Downeast Barn has
established a relationship with our customers that will last a lifetime. |
